Andrea says that the ecological crisis is an erotic problem, not a technological problem. How men approach women, or the feminine, is the same as how we approach nature. I'm sympathetic to this idea, but I think it could do some more heavy lifting in roping technology back into the frame.

This interview reminded me of the interview you did with Zhenevere Sophia Dao, in which she explores the distinction between man as "the subject of nature," as opposed to merely a tool in service of it. What she says in that interview, in connection to this one, opens up a host of questions for me about heteronormativity, sexual polarity, and somatic sensitivity. But it also makes me wonder about the relationship between eros, masculinity, and technology. What does it mean to be "in service" of nature? For Andrea, it means becoming a river of love, and letting the beauty of Her be your blessing. But can such a posture become complicit with an acceptance of emotional numbness and somatic loneliness? What happens to the adoration of the feminine when one experiences oneself as the subject of nature itself? What happens to our conceptions of masculinity when we play with its technological metaphors?

Would love to walk down these trails with you someday. Deep gratitude for your nourishing, challenging work.

Still chewing over your comments here Tyler, appreciate your thoughtfulness. I definitely think Andrea brings a particular medicine from a certain binary frame - and I don't say this disparagingly. I think transgender folk like Zhenevere are also bringing a particular medicine - 'trans' as in 'to carry across' I see as carrying across the binary. And the mistake I think the culture/gender wars make is trying to demolish the binary altogether instead of keeping the polarities and dancing in the space between.
