A line in my Bible readings this morning that threaded together this conversation in a meaningful way for me.
Another thought. I am grateful that stories are not bound to gender. I didn’t encounter Maria’s words as a man, but as a soul. In doing so, I was nourished.
Not to say that we don’t need masculine and feminine teachers that can help us recognize our unique bones and place them, we do. I’m profoundly indebted to my father’s fathers and a grateful son of the prophets.
But…in my faith tradition the Christian scriptures remind us: “…woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.” -1 Corinthians 11:12
This union is the basis of a beautiful communion of word, story, truth, goodness and beauty, of which I benefited in a deep and meaningful way through this conversation.
Have you spoke with Gabriella Gutierrez (also here on Substack -Under a Fig Tree)? She just posted a great a great essay on Dionysius and I thought of your episode.
Loving myth work as a way back Home. Thanks for your work!

Thank you, now to sing over my bones.
